KBI 311866 Argent for Active Directory Throws Operating System Mismatch Error When Testing Rules

Version

Argent for Active Directory – All versions

Date

Friday, 28 August 2020

Summary

Testing of DNS, Active Directory and LDAP Rules in Argent for Active Directory fails

The test result log shows the following error message:

“Operating System version mismatch. Argent for Active Directory does not support the version of Windows installed.”

This occurs even though the Rules are tested against the correct operating system.

Technical Background

The issue occurs when the “NetBios Name” field in the Node Properties window of the License Manager screen is specified with a Fully Qualified Domain Name instead of the computer name or the IP address

Argent for Active Directory will try connecting to the Active Directory of the target machine using the NetBios Name, if specified

Argent for Active Directory does not expect a Fully Qualified Domain Name as the NetBios Name and it fails to read the version of the Windows installed, resulting in the error message

Resolution

Remove the Fully Qualified Domain Name from the “NetBios Name” field in the Node Properties window of the License Manager screen

The “NetBios Name” field may be left blank or filled with an IP address or the computer name
