Summary

Argent Job Scheduler Does Not Rely On The MSDTC

Technical Background

MSDTC stands for Microsoft Distributed Transaction Coordinator.

As name suggests, MSDTC is handles transactions that are distributed over multiple SQL database servers.

MSDTC is not required for SQL Server installation or operation.

If customer is going to use Database Engine only, then it is not required or used.

If customer plans to use any of the query techniques like Linked Server, OPENQUERY, etc., or SSIS or Workstation Components then MSDTC is required.

Argent Job Scheduler only requires a valid ODBC connector as Windows DSN (Data Source Name) to operate. The product is independent to the MSDTC.

Rules will fail to execute if server is not properly defined
