KBI 311937 Issue Addressed: Microsoft’s KB5001779 Implication On Argent for Exchange
Version
Argent for Exchange – All versions
Date
Wednesday, 21 Jul 2021
Summary
After installing the Microsoft April 2021 security update KB5001779 or later updates for Microsoft Exchange Server 2019, 2016, or 2013, some Rules in Argent for Exchange Server start returning the following error message:
“The syntax is not supported by this runspace. This can occur if the runspace is in no-language mode. (PowerShell Runtime Exception)”
Following are the affected Rules:
1. Active Sync Rules
2. Exchange Connector Rules
3. Mailbox Database Rules
4. Public Folder Database Rules
5. Exchange Web Service Rules
Technical Background
The following Argent for Exchange Rules will not retrieve information through Remote PowerShell from Exchange Server.
1. Active Sync Rules
2. Exchange Connector Rules
3. Mailbox Database Rules
4. Public Folder Database Rules
5. Exchange Web Service Rules
After installing the Microsoft security update (KB5001779), Exchange Management Console endpoint on the Exchange-based server will be changed from FullLanguage to NoLanguage mode.
Applications that use the FullLanguage mode features of Remote PowerShell now experience the following error when they process Remote PowerShell calls:
“The syntax is not supported by this runspace. This can occur if the runspace is in no-language mode. (PowerShell Runtime Exception)”
This is a known issue and is documented in following link:
Argent for Exchange needs to be enhanced to support NoLanguage mode of Remote PowerShell.
Resolution
