KBI 220089 Network Errors In Argent Job Scheduler

Version

All

Date

18 Sep 2001

Summary

Communication between the Argent Job Scheduler and the Argent Queue Engine can be interrupted by network errors, even when the two components are on the same server.

Technical Background

First get the base information such as level of W200x, Service Pack, SQL Server or CodeBase.

And when the issue first appeared, assume both the Argent Job Scheduler and the Argent Queue Engine are on NODEA, Jobs cannot be submitted on NODEA from the Argent Job Scheduler to Argent Queue Engine.

Resolution

  1. From command line enter:

         NET TIME file://NODEA/”>\NODEA

If the command completes successfully, it indicates the NT API NetRemoteTOD is working correctly, go to Step 2.

If the command fails, the Customer has a clock error, and have the Customer correct the issue.

  2. From command line enter:

         QSYSTEM NODEA

If this command fails, it indicates a network error OR the Argent Queue Engine service is not running.

  3. Enter the Argent Queue Engine GUI.

  4. Enter the Argent Job Scheduler GUI and look at the Server Local Time.

If a current time does NOT appear then the Argent Job Scheduler CANNOT see the Argent Queue Engine, go to Step 1.

For Remote Queue Engines, do the same process but change NODEA to the name of the remote Queue Engine.

A clear indication of an error is:

Mon Sep 17 06:53:29 AQMSCHED ASTPBCAP19 Cannot get local time zone information (The specified service does not exist as an installed service)(1060).

    Often you will see:

Mon Sep 17 10:51:13 AQMSCHED ASTPBCAP19 Failed to see checkpoint event of The Argent Job Scheduler service (3.2A-0011). Restart service process.
