KBI 311355 Issue Addressed: SNMP Rule That Enumerates OID Might Not Break When Data Is Not Available

Version

Argent Advanced Technology 3.1A-1601-C and earlier

Date

Monday, 14 March 2016

Summary

SNMP Rule can be configured to break when data is not available

However, if the Rule enumerates SNMP OID, and it is enumerated OID that is unavailable, the Rule won’t break

When testing such a Rule against a device that does not have the enumerated OID, the testing result simply reports ‘Failed to enumerate OID …’ and Rule is not broken

The issue has been addressed in Argent AT 3.1A-1601-T5

Technical Background

It is caused by coding error

The Engine reports Rule is broken only if the OID specified in the Sub-Rule level is not available

Resolution

Upgrade to Argent AT 3.1A-1601-T5 or later
