KBI 311391 New Rule Category Listening Session Count Rule In Argent for XenApp
Version
Argent Advanced Technology 1601-T8 and later
Date
Wednesday, 4 May 2016
Summary
Argent Advanced Technology has been introduced a new Rule category ‘Listening Session Count Rules’ in Argent for XenApp under ‘XenApp Session Monitoring Rules’ to check whether the count of listening sessions in XenApp 6.5 servers matches the threshold condition
Example:
‘Listening Session Count Rules’ check the listening session count in XenApp Server
Rule ‘RULE_LISTEN_SESS_CNT_AT_LIMIT’ is broken, if the listening sessions count in XenApp Server is greater than 50
Technical Background
Listening sessions are special-purpose sessions closely related to idle sessions
Their purpose is to listen for session requests on their assigned protocol
They handle initial session setup and assign the incoming session request to the next available idle session
This Rule compares the count of sessions in listening state in XenApp Server with the given threshold value
Any unusual increase in count requires immediate action as this severely affects the stability of XenApp Server
The Rule monitors all listening sessions running in the XenApp 6.5 server
Resolution
