Summary
New feature of Heartbeat Events for Argent AT Supervising Engine is implemented in 5.1A-1610-C version
It allows Supervising Engine including Daughter Engine send email or SMS message periodically, which indicates the health of monitoring architecture
The default is to run a synthetic Heartbeat Rule and fire Heartbeat Event at 1:00, 9:00 and 17:00 each day
Sample Alert EMAIL_HEARTBEAT is also provided
However, it must be customized before being used
Technical Background
It is possible to implement Heartbeat Event using some Rule always broken and Relator running at specific time
However, it will generate Events in Argent Console (A1x) and interfere the Argent SuperMaps
The root of the confusion comes from the fact that broken Rule generally means some bad condition; however, broken heartbeat Rule means good status of Argent AT monitoring
The newly implemented feature handles this nicely by firing Heartbeat Events while not inserting Events into Argent Console
