KBI 310887 Issue Addressed: TCP Related Connectivity Rule Not Working In Argent Sentry
Version
Argent Sentry 3.1A-1401-E or below
Date
Wednesday, 19 Mar 2014
Summary
Argent Sentry Connectivity Rules using TCP/IP Ping or Port Scanning does not work for URL Objects in Argent Sentry due to error ‘Could not resolve host XXXX by DNS‘
Technical Background
When URL Object is defined in CMDB-X, the URL address is saved as Alias field in node property
When Engine runs TCP related Connectivity Rule, it looks for alternative IP address and it is not defined
As a result, Engine tries to resolve URL Object name through DNS, which does not work either
Resolution
Upgrade to Argent Advanced Technology 3.1A-1401-T4 or later
If Customer cannot upgrade immediately, they need to manually specify the alternative IP address in the CMDB-X node property for the URL Object
