KBI 311755 Issue Addressed: Argent AT Engine Does Not Work On IPv6 Network
Version
Argent Advanced Technology 5.1A-1810-A and below
Date
Tuesday, 28 May 2019
Summary
Modern network generally supports both IPv4 and IPv6 addresses
As a matter of fact, Windows machines have both IPv4 and IPv6 stacks installed by default
However, Argent AT used to run on IPv4 network only
In large Enterprise Network adopting IPv6, remote components such as Daughter Engine and remote Trusted Agent might only be able to communicate with Mother Engine with IPv6 address
Because Argent AT Engines were not binding to IPv6 address, these remote components won’t be able to connect to central Engine
Argent AT 5.1A-1901-A has been enhanced to address the issue
On Main Engine, Edit registry HKLM\Software\Argent\COMMON\USE_IP_V6 (DWORD) to 1, Argent AT Engine will bind to both IPv4 and IPv6 addresses
As a result, the remote Engines can always connect no matter they run IPv4 or IPv6
In some rare cases, user might only want to run on IPv6 address, edit the registry value to 9999
