KBI 311532 Issue Addressed: TCP Service Hand Shake In System Down Rule Is Hung Or Generates Exception Errors

Version

Argent Advanced Technology 5.1A-1610-A to 5.1A-1701-B

Date

Wednesday, 22 March 2017

Summary

System Down Rule using TCP Service Hand Shake does not work. When running such a Rule, it is either hung or returns mysterious exception errors.

The issue has been addressed in Argent AT 5.1A-1704-A.

Technical Background

Argent AT uses third party ActiveX component DartTelnet.dll to test the TCP service hand shake. The component is not compatible with VC++ 2015, which is the compiler for Argent AT 5.1A. Argent AT earlier than 1610-A was developed and compiled with VC++ 2005, which is compatible with DartTelnet.dll. That is reason that the function is broken for versions from 1610-A to 1701-B.

To address the issue, new TCP library IPWorks9.dll is used to implement the function in 1704-A and later.

Resolution

Upgrade to Argent AT 5.1A-1704-A.
