Summary

Daughter Engine Process Wrong Relators

Technical Background

You have implemented Daughter Engines (also known as Regional Engines) in multiple locations (Tennessee and Florida), but for some reason one of your Daughter Engines (Florida) is processing requests for Relators from other remote locations (Tennessee) and generating unnecessary network traffic.

Resolution

The above situation can happen when the *.LVF file and its matching *.XML file becomes corrupted or is configured improperly. Each the Argent Guardian Extended Technology product has its own set of LVF/XML files when a Daughter Engine is implemented. To remedy this issue, it may become necessary to de-install the Daughter Engine and then delete and recreate these files.

The steps described below assume that the Daughter Engine having this issue has been deployed using the Engine Installation Package feature. To correct this issue, perform the following steps:

  1. De-install the Daughter Engine that is processing Relators improperly using the Remote Engine Installation Package setup program originally created when the Daughter Engine was originally deployed;
  2. Once the Daughter Engine has been properly removed delete the appropriate LVF/XML files from the main Argent server. These files can be found in the Executor sub directory for a given product (the Argent Guardian, the Argent Data Consolidator etc.):

    ..\Argent\ArgentManagementConsole\ArgentGuardian\Executor

  3. Re-install the Daughter Engine as needed using the Remote Engine Installation Package originally created for the deployment of the affected Daughter Engine. Ensure that the Setup.xml file created by the Remote Engine Installation Package is modified as needed to reflect the proper drive letter installation path if needed;

  4. Since a Daughter Engine deployed via the Remote Engine Installation Package process does not have a GUI you must use the command line menu XT_Daughter_Console to upload the appropriate regional information to the Main Engine. The command line menu executable is located in the ArgentManagementConsole directory;

  5. From the Argent server’s Argent Console, select the appropriate Argent Product (such as Argent Guardian), then select the Administration icon and select the option called: Process Uploaded Information of Regional Engines as shown below:

  6. From the appropriate Argent Product, select the Administration icon and select the option called: Export Master Control Information as shown below:

  7. Confirm that the re-installed Daughter Engine is only processing those Relators it is responsible for.

  8. Repeat the above steps as needed for each the Argent Guardian Extended Technology product that has a Daughter Engine exhibiting the same symptoms.
