Summary

Customers may notice many messages in their vCenter logs about the Argent vCenter account logging in and out.

Technical Background

This is expected behavior since Argent for VMware uses these credentials to login to vCenter when executing the Argent for VMware monitoring Rules. The number of login and logouts can be reduced by using the Relator option to “Use Shared Monitoring Engine Process In Pool” instead of “Spawn New Monitor Engine Process“.

The shared Monitoring Engine process will stay open while it is not idle for 5 minutes. This will allow Argent for VMware to use the same logged in session for multiple monitoring checks rather than using a separate login and logout for each time a Relator’s monitoring Rule executes.
