Summary

Customers may want to create Rules that connect to Sybase Adaptive Server Enterprise (ASE) databases

Technical Background

Like all databases, the Argent Main Engine, Daughter or Trusted Agent responsible for performing the monitoring must have the relevant ODBC drivers

Windows does not have native support for Sybase databases, and therefore, the ODBC drivers must be downloaded from an official Sybase source

Resolution

The Sybase ASE ODBC Drivers are only available through the Sybase Software Developer Kit

Unfortunately, Sybase does not allow ‘just anyone’ to download the Software Developer Kit

To download the Software Developer Kit, customers need to be a Sybase customer, and have a license through their sales division

Alternatively, Argent has found that Sybase also includes the ODBC driver as an option inside the Sybase ASE Developer’s Edition (Free):
