Summary

When trying to install Argent Reports, Argent Commander, Argent Global Manager or Argent WorldView on a Windows 7 and Windows 8 Home Edition machine will fail and error message appears “The required Windows Authentication in Windows Features is not turned on”

Technical Background

Argent Web products require Windows Authentication in IIS to be enabled before installation

Windows Authentication feature in IIS allows Administrators in a Windows domain to take advantage of domain infrastructure when authenticating users

This feature is currently not supported by Microsoft for Windows 7 or 8 Home Editions

Resolution

Do not use Windows Home Editions with Argent
