Summary

This article describes a situation where all Argent GUIs suddenly load very, very slowly

Technical Background

Customer suddenly found all Argent GUIs take about 20 minutes to load

They usually take 15 to 20 seconds to load

No Argent servers showed resource shortage, e.g., CPU, Memory and Disk

However, there was an observable SQL query delay on the Argent database, as shown here:

The Argent database server was found under high CPU usage, consumed by process name sqlservr.exe

The database server was running with only two CPU cores and was hosting multiple non-Argent databases

Database server was noticeably under resourced

Customer later confirmed the database server was recently rebuilt and the CPU cores number was wrongly configured

Issue was addressed by increasing CPU cores from 2 to 4 on the database server

Resolution

Ensure SQL server hosting the Argent database has sufficient system resource
